stoked. - DJ photography book by James Webber

James Webber is a talented photographer and graphic designer from Milton Keynes, England. His latest project is a book called ‘Stoked.’, which has just gone live on the web for all to see.

The book is best viewed in full screen!

‘Stoked.’ is a book that I am currently producing for my final major project of my course.

The aim of the book is to show its readers the lifestyle and prowess of dirt jumpers that ride at the spot of Woburn Sands. It features the likes of riders such as Matt Jones(identiti), Sam Anslow, Sam Pilgrim(NS bikes) and Lewis Richards(Slam 69).

The book is a collection of some of my favourite shots that I have taken at Woburn that I really think demonstrates the skills of these riders. The book was not only made to appeal to those who are aware of the sport, but also to those unaware and to give them an insight into a sport they may not have seen before (of course you are all familiar with the sport though). Although the book is only currently online I will soon be getting a professionally produced hardcover copy very soon.

I would really love your opinions on this as it will be great to put some into my backup work for this project, so please let me know what you think!

Must Read This Week

Thanks for the comments so far guys! Makes me so happy that people like it Smile

As said in the description it is only a university project at the moment so I just focused on DJ as its what I favored the most.

I also got the printed version of it in my hands yesterday and it felt amazing!

awesome book, would buy if i found it in a bookshop/ bike shop, luckily i can see it for free! Gives great ideas for new and old photographers. If only it had a variety of riding types like downhill, freeride, park, xc. would make it even better than it is already! Big Grin

Great project, great book! Very well done, cohesive, beautiful images and tells the story. Once you get it published I will buy a copy. I disagree with troyster, I like that you focused on one discipline. Do another for DH or XC with the same consistency and people will love it. Then maybe do a "best of" version with everything!

Please keep us updated as you get it printed. In my opinion this is the ultimate coffee table book, that I would put out in our living room to generate conversations with guests.

Like you said, even if you're not in the sport, the pictures are extremely well done and everyone would love looking through the book, with the scenery and stunts being performed.

Thats one hell of a comment dude, thank you so much!
It was ideally meant to be a coffee table book so I guess I have succeeded there aha Big Grin

The whole thing looks good nicely edited and crisp.

You should expand it and include the whole Woburn scene, include some history.

The hardcover version does feel great if I do say so myself.

Im actually looking into talking to publishers to get a run of it for people to purchase.

Really want a copy of this myself. Hope you get props from UNI dude. Really crisp design. As a fellow designer, I am loving the layout, every page/spread works. As a rider I would love more action shots, but I think you achieved everything you set out to do. Showing dirt jumping as down to earth and having fun, rather than all ego. Well done.
